Do you accept short term guests? I am planning to travel Japan for a couple of weeks and looking for cheap accommodation.
Our contract is on a monthly basis, meaning we require the first 30 days rent even if you are staying less than 30 days. However, our accommodation will still be cheaper than staying in a hostel or hotel for a month.
Is there a security locker?
There is no security locker in the sharehouse. Please keep your valuables by yourself. However, there are security cameras installed at the common areas and we can hold your valuables in a separate location upon request.
Do I have to pay the utility fees?
You don't have to pay the utility fees for the first 30 days. From the 31st days, we ask you to pay utility fees.
Is there internet access in the sharehouse?
Of course, we provide free Wi-Fi access.
Is there an age limit?
No, there is no age limit. However, if you are under 19 years old, you must have your parents' permission. Additionally, we do not accept guests who are unable to care for themselves independently. Our youngest guest so far was a 1-year-old child who stayed with his mother while she visited Tokyo for her new job. Our oldest guest was an 80-year-old woman preparing to move into a nursing home after selling her house. Another example is a 16-year-old high school student whose parents were concerned about her living alone while attending school in Tokyo.
I have quite a lot of stuff. How much lubbage can I bring?
It depends on the size of the room but aproximately 2 to 4 boxes can be stored in your space.
Can I register as a resident of Edogawa-ku by using the sharehouse address?
Yes, you can. There is the city office of Edogawa-ku and you can do the official paper there as well.
How long does the special price last? I am planning to go to Tokyo near in the future but don't know the exact date yet. I want to stay when the special offer is still available. How long does it last?
The special price will last until the end of the year.
Do you have a private room?
Most of our rooms are private rooms. If you are interested in staying at dormitory, we offer this option as well.
Is there a hair dryer?
Yes, in one of the showers.
Can I park a bicycle or a motorcycle?
Of course
Do you provide futon, matress, pillow, and sheets?
Yes, we do. Please wash them (sheets) by yourself during your stay.
What kinds of people live in the sharehouse?
Our guests include working holiday makers, university students, people who are on internship in Japan, people who are looking for a job in Tokyo, people who simply work everyday, artists, backpackers, people who are back in Japan temporarily, and all sorts of people. There are some people who base themselves here and travel Japan. Sometimes, married couples also come here to live for a while.
Can I receive mails and packages?
Regular mails are delivered to the mail box of the sharehouse. If you are getting something that needs to be received in person, you have to wait and receive it by yourself.
Is there a curfew?
No, there is no t, however, please keep quiet after 11 p.m
Can I extend my stay? How much would it be? I am planning to stay in Tokyo for several months. How would the rent be calculated?
After your first month, we will charge on a daily basis based on the type of your room.
When does the rent start? Can I transfer the rent to your bank account? When do I pay the rent every month? My work routine is irregular. Can I transfer the rent to your bank account?
The rent period starts from the day you moved in. Please pay the rent every 30 days.
Is there a bath at the sharehouse or is there a public bath nearby? It seems that there is a bath tun in the sharehouse but can I use the bath tub? Is the shower free?
Hot shower is 100 yen / 10 min. If you want to use a bath tub, you may require more than 200 or 300 yen.
Is there a washing machine? Can I hang my clothes to dry?
There is a coin-operated-washing machine. It is 100 yen / time. Laundromat is usually by a public bath. They charge 200 yen.
Do you have AC or heating?
Yes, there is an AC / heater in each room. You can use it anytime you want. The electricity meter is installed in each room.
Can I use the kitchen? I want to cook and save the food costs.
Yes, you can. There are basic cooking tools such as refrigerator, rice cooker, microwave, and so on.
Can I meet people and make friends?
We provide takoyaki and curry parties on an irregular basis and invite all residents to join and try to keep things social and friendly.
Is there female only area?
No, there is no female only area. All the facilities are unisex.
Who cleans the room / house?
The house manager cleans the common areas. Please clean your own room and space by yourself.
Are there grocery stores or convenience stores nearby?
They are all located within walking distance. There is a supermarket called 'Co-op' thirty seconds from the sharehouse and 7-Eleven is also less than a minute away.
Is it safe to walk around at night near the sharehouse?
There are many restaurants and street lights around Shin-Koiwa station area. People walk around pretty late at night so it is quite safe.
Do you hold any tour or activity for the residents? When I stayed at a guethouse in Okinawa, there were some events or parties that I enjoyed a lot. Do you hold any parties or tours?
We have takoyaki and curry parties. Sometimes we also watch movies together. Of course guests are welcome to hold parties.
Is it close to downtown? I go to Tokyo for work. Is the sharehouse located in a convenient area?
Yes, it is very convenient to go to down town. The closest station is Shin-Koiwa station on JR Sobu line, about 9 min. on foot. It is about 30 min. to Shinjuku without changing train, 13 min. to Akihabara without changing train, 14 min. to Tokyo without changing train, 20 min. to Ueno.
I work at night. Is it possible to sleep during a day? I am thinking of moving to te sharehouse to save some money. Is it possible to sleep during a day?
There should be no problems but if you let us know when you move in, we might be able to arrange your room accordingly.
How long does it take to go to a touristic spot? I am going to Tokyo with the working holiday visa and wishing to do some sight seeing when I don't work. How far is it to go to sight seeing spot?
There are many touristic spots nearby.
Can I smoke in the sharehouse. A lot of areas are non-smoking recently. Is there any area where I can smoke?
It is non-smoking inside the building. You can smoke outside at the designated spot.
What time can I check in?
Our business hour is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, we can arrange the time if you tell us in advance. Please contact about it first.
What time is check-out?
Check-out time is noon but the living room is available until 17:00 on the day you check out.
Can I charge my cell-phone in my room? Is there an outlet and a light in each room?
Yes, there are electric outlets in each room.
Is there parking space? I am planning to drive my car to Tokyo. Can I park my car?
We don't have a parking space. Please use a coin-operated parking near our sharehouse. There are monthly parking as well but please reserve it by yourself in advance.
Can I leave my luggage after I check out? I want to travel other areas before I leave Japan. Can I leave my luggage while I am traveling?
We charge 500 yen per luggage per day. It's free if your are a guest
Can I rent a bike? I want to cruise around Tokyo with a bycicyle. Is there a bike that I can rent?
Yes, and it is free! However, we will charge you 5,000 yen unless you return the bike as it was.
What should I do in case of natural disaster such as big earthquake. I experienced the great earthquake in Tohoku and would like to know what would happen if such a disaster occurs.
Staff will guide you to safe area. Also, you can go to the nearby designated evacuate spot.
Will my room be private?
Even though are rooms have bunk beds, you will have a private room for yourself.
Will I be living alone?
Connection is one of our core values. Along with all the events that we host in our common area, we have a hostel community nearby.
Am I allowed to smoke?
Yes, but not indoors. We have a designated smoking space outside.
What is the best way to get to Shinkoiwa?
Although there is a bus stop right outside our building, we recommend commuting by train.
What is Shinkoiwa like?
Shinkoiwa is a fast-growing suburb in Tokyo that is accessible by direct train, but also far enough away from the city to be quiet.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, we do not allow pets in Edo Tokyo sharehouse at this time. Although we'd love to see your furry friend, we try to respect the allergies of our members in the sharehouse.
Do you have space to store a bicycle?
Yes, of course. We will show you our designated parking area.
